While it’s common to perceive women as the primary victims of societal pressure and expectations, this perspective only reveals 75% of the truth. Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that every individual, regardless of gender or background, faces constraints imposed by social norms, cultural traditions, and religious beliefs.
With this artwork I am trying to illustrates this concept by depicting a woman who appears confined, occupying two-thirds of the canvas. However, the remaining one-third reveals that everyone is trapped in their own way.
The red dot on her forehead serves as a subtle yet powerful protest against the absurdity of social norms and the pseudo-feminism that often accompanies them, advocating instead for genuine equality.
